Every One Ignored Her But For Prom She Was Asked By The Popular Boy.

You know going to the prom is a big deal for most all high school students. It’s an even bigger deal for students with special needs. Here are 10 stories where going to the prom for special needs students was the greatest thing ever.

1. In the second grade, Ben and Mary became good friends and Ben promised Mary that one day he would take her to prom. In those days of childhood innocence, Ben didn’t see Mary as someone who was different; she was only a girl, but a girl he liked very much.

Years passed, and they remained close friends through elementary, middle, and high school. During those years, Ben was always looking for her. Then it was time for graduation.

Ben kept his promise to Mary, a girl he made good friends with in second grade; a girl who, with Down syndrome, was considered different from many others, but someone Ben only saw as a good friend. And when the prom date came, Ben, now a very popular quarterback on the school football team, proudly walked with Mary, all dressed up, side by side.

And Mary spent that night being treated like a fairy tale princess by her Prince Charming Ben. And the promise made to a friend a long time ago has been fulfilled.

2. Bailey was born with Down syndrome and really wanted to go to prom at Grand Forks Central with Brock. She tweeted him to ask if he would, and she waited.

But while she waited, her mom, unaware of her daughter’s request to Brock, closed her social media accounts because she was too worried about Bailey being on them.

So, unknown to Bailey, Brock tried to respond to her request, but he just couldn’t reach her. Luckily, through a mutual friend, Brock was able to find Bailey’s mom and text her for permission to take Bailey to prom.

Mom was thrilled, and of course Bailey was, because Brock wasn’t just your average Joe. Brock is Brock Besner, an incredibly talented hockey player from the University of North Dakota who was selected in the first round of the draft by the Vancouver Canucks.

According to Bayley, her date with Brock “was amazing.”
