Wife Refuses To Turn Off Husband’s Life Support, 2 Years Later He Wakes Up And Says Two Words

Without life support, Matt Davis would not have been able to survive the motorcycle crash that left him clinging to life. Danielle Davis, Matt’s wife of only seven months, refused to give up on her husband. The doctors recommended she “pull the plug”, putting him out of his misery.

Days after the crash, Matt’s doctors wanted to end his life. Danielle remembers them talking to her nine days after the accident, and she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“They said if it was them, they’d pull the plug,” she stated. “That’s what they’d want their family to do.”

Danielle refused to be the one who made the decision about whether her husband lived or died. Instead, she preferred to leave that choice up to God and had faith that God still had plans for him.

“I didn’t think that it was too big for God,” she stated.

Eventually, Matt had to leave the hospital and return home. His wife and mother-in-law then became his full-time caretakers.

“If we’ve got to bring him home, let’s make sure he has the best view in the world,” Danielle said to her mother. “If he’s going to be a body in a bed, let’s give him something to look at.”

Danielle was struggling until Matt said two words that everything she was doing was worth it.

“I’m trying,” he said.

Danielle dutifully took Matt to every therapy appointment over the next few months. With the help of an occupational therapist, Matt started to get better and his original personality soon came back. Danielle was finally able to spend time with the man she loved again.

“I kid you not. He says, ‘buffalo chicken wrap from Cheddar’s,’” Danielle said. “We all whipped around because we all knew what he said.”

Matt’s tragic motorcycle accident was years ago, but he is still fighting for full mobility. He has not been able to regain his long-term memory, and it continues to be a difficult struggle for him. He doesn’t recall ever dating or marrying Danielle. The Christian couple had only been dating for two months when they got married, and seven months after that he was in a car crash.

Matt has some words of wisdom for every husband out there about how crucial it is to take care of the woman he promised to love and protect forever.

“Dude, take the trash out because there might be a day when you can’t,” he stated.
