Meteorologist Asked To Cover Up Her Body During Live Broadcast

A female meteorologist never expected to be sexually harassed while live on the air. However, the weather girl from KTLA in Los Angeles was criticized after she showed up for the live television segment wearing a sleeveless dress that showed off her cleavage. As a result of the skimpy dress, meteorologist Liberte Chan was asked to cover up while live on the air – a very embarrassing response for a weather girl who has made it her mission to inform people about the changes to the weather.

Chan was reporting on the weather in a black beaded dress when suddenly someone from backstage appeared with a sweater so the young weather girl could cover up her torso, which was a bit too scandalously revealed to the Los Angeles audience.

“What’s going on?” she asked the person who was off camera. “You want me to put this on? Why, because it’s cold?”

The person who remained off camera then told Chan that she had to cover up because the news station had been “getting a lot of emails” about Chan’s choice of an outfit. I guess people in Los Angeles don’t have anything better to do than write in about the scandalous outfit the weather girl was wearing during the live broadcast.

Chan was disappointed that she was not allowed to present the weather in her dress. With the sweater on, she looked crestfallen and confirmed as much when she said, “I look like a librarian now.”

After the incident became national news, Chan said that no one forced her to wear the cardigan sweater. Instead, she claimed it was all part of a “spontaneous moment” by her colleague who was poking fun at Chan for her choice of an outfit during the broadcast.

“I was simply playing along with my co-anchors joke,” she said, New York Daily News reported. “I like my bosses and enjoy working with my coworkers. Since talking to my team, I want our viewers to know it was never our intention to offend anyone.”

The incident mostly rubbed Chan the wrong way because so many viewers were upset by her outfit choice. She wished that people would focus on the contributions she was making to local journalism rather than taking issue with the dress she decided to wear while presenting the weather live on the air.

Co-anchor Chris Burrous was the man who handed her the gray sweater. Later, he revealed that he was also wearing a cooky outfit. He had on a suit jacket with a shirt and tie. But his lower half was wearing khaki shorts that could not be seen on camera.

Burrous explained that the whole sweater incident was “meant in jest, but I see how it seemed.”

Chan added, “I really wasn’t offended. People are kind of spinning it and saying it was sexist. I thought it was just funny.”

While many viewers complained about Chan’s revealing dress, some viewers felt that she should be allowed to wear what she wanted.

“How rude. She looked fine. Was there a dress code violation? Perhaps, that’s between her and H/R department. But live TV sounds like jealousy at the workplace. I Loved the dress. What was her name? Good looking lady,” one reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
