“Sound of Freedom,” featuring actor Jim Caviezel in the lead role, is projected to exceed $40 million in total ticket sales, according to the latest estimates from Angel Studios.
The movie presents a compelling and eye-opening true story that delves into the depths of human trafficking and child sex trafficking across the globe. It premiered on July 4th and swiftly ascended to the pinnacle of the box office. Angel Studios, in a press release, highlighted the sustained momentum of the film. “Our numbers continue to surpass expectations, following the impressive July 4th figures. ‘Sound of Freedom’ has taken on a life of its own, generating messages from all corners of the country reporting packed and sold-out theaters, along with spontaneous standing ovations in numerous locations. The film has become a must-see due to the incredible word-of-mouth,” stated Brandon Purdie, Head of Theatrical Distribution at Angel Studios, in the Sunday press release.
Purdie expressed deep gratitude towards theater partners such as AMC, Cinemark, and Regal, as well as their diligent staff, for their collaboration in accommodating the soaring demand for this film and their courage to release “Sound of Freedom” during the busiest movie season of the year.
As per the press release, the film is currently playing in 2,850 theaters and is estimated to generate nearly $20 million over the weekend, resulting in a projected box office total of approximately $40 million.
Box Office Mojo also reported similar figures, revealing domestic earnings of just over $18 million for the weekend and a total of slightly over $40 million.
Rotten Tomatoes, a popular ratings site, showcased impressive statistics as well, with a 76% approval rating from critics and a 99% audience score.
The film recounts the heart-wrenching true tale of a federal agent who, after rescuing a trafficked boy, chooses to leave his job in order to track down and save the boy’s sister in South America.
