Bette Midler Shares Horrible Poem About Melania Gets Harsh Feedback

Bette Midler, who was once famous for starring in hit movies such as Hocus Pocus and singing hits like The Wind Beneath My Wings from the 1988 film Beaches, is increasingly being known for something else, her ongoing feud with current United States President Donald J. Trump.

heir disagreements have played out countless times in the media, and more importantly on the social media platform Twitter. Twitter seems to be the preferred form of social media for both Midler and the President, so it comes as no surprise that it would be the chosen battleground for their war of words. Some of these Twitter spats have become so infamous that they inspired a conspiracy video surrounding the relationship between the two to be created by late night tv host Jimmy Kimmel.

It’s not far fetched that their tweets would attract such attention, especially since President Trump has over 77 million followers and Midler’s account boasts some 1.7 million. They both have an avid audience of supporters and detractors who are eager to share their latest spats across the social media platform.

Most notably of these so-called twitter beefs was one sparked by a tweet by Midler in August of 2019. The tweet that fueled this controversy was a poem about First Lady Melania Trump entitled “A Poem For Melania.” It contained the following prose penned by Midler:

“Each day I’m filled with the hope,
That #Donald won’t be such a Dope
So I get on my knees
And say vip it out plise
As I reach for my new microscope.”

Though Bette Midler has been a longtime critic of Donald Trump and very active anti-Trump campaigner, some felt that this particular poem was out of order and crass even for the outspoken Midler. Trump supporters responded by calling the Midler’s poem childish and juvenile, with one Twitter user going as far as to state: “So now you’ve been reduced to slut shaming a woman you’ve never met because you disagree with her husband for being a Republican?” Regardless of whether twitter followers fell into the categories of support or opposition to the poem, it certainly generated lots of responses and heated debates.

President Trump in keeping with his spirit of never being afraid to punch back on Twitter has also responded personally to various tweets from Midler. Earlier in 2020 the President had this response after Midler allegedly gave misinformation regarding his visit to the United Kingdom:

“Washed up psycho @BetteMidler was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make “your great president” look really bad. She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!”

Midler’s twitter bio at the time could be considered a passive response and offer further insight about her feelings towards the President. It featured a plain black background with the words “In Mourning,” overlaying a picture of “the United States of America.”

It is unknown whether President Trump and Midler will ever resolve their political differences, but one thing for sure is that the world and Twitter will be watching.
