Optical illusions are always interesting. They prey on the way your brain naturally works to induce a type of confusion or to create seemingly impossible images. People still flock to the images especially with the emergence of the Internet and social media. One photographer took a relatively simple image and sparked a minor debate online about the picture.

Tiziana Vergari is a professional photographer working out of Switzerland. She was recently taking a number of photographs as part of an awareness campaign. The images were supposed to show just how unique women could be through the art form. The image that drew some attention shows young women sitting in some type of booth beside a mirror. It looks like a dressing room since more than one mirror is in the area.

The illusion is a common one. The mirror beside the women is reflect the mirror on the opposite side not seen in the photograph. The light bouncing back and forth causes the reflections to appear infinitely nested into the distance.Some people on social media started having a debate about how many actual young women are really in the photograph.

The answer is fairly obvious when looking at the picture. There are two girls sitting beside each other between the mirrors. You can clearly match the facial features and poses of the two in the more distant reflections. This has not prevented some people from claiming the simple illusion shows dozens of different women or is the result of special effects.
