A man left his ex-girlfriend speechless after telling her he’d paid off her mortgage.

Shaun Nyland surprised his ex-girlfriend Cat with the news and recorded her reaction, posting it on TikTok.

He gave Cat, who is the mother of his child, the good news on her 31st birthday.

In the video posted to TikTok, which has more than 5 million views, Shaun is seen handing Cat a set of keys as she asks: “Why are you giving me these for?”

He tells her: “It’s your birthday today, I want you to have the best birthday ever.

“And look, I know we’re not together anymore, and I’ve been so proud of you, you’re the best mom ever, so I did something. I rang up the bank, I paid off the entire mortgage. This house now belongs to you.”

Cat remains calm after hearing the news and tells Shaun she doesn’t believe him.

“I promise you, this house belongs to you. I rang the bank, paid it off, you own this house.”

He tells Cat to check her emails where she’ll find confirmation and after checking she realizes it isn’t a joke and can’t believe it.

Shaun posted another video explaining why he decided to pay off the mortgage not just for Cat, but also for their son.

“At the end of the day, my ex-girlfriend gave me the best gift any man could ask for by bringing Leo into this world and I know it was tough for Cat to try and live the same lifestyle we lived but by herself,” he said.

“Honestly guys, I’m still shaking right now. I’m just so grateful that I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do this, not just for Cat, but also for my baby so that he’s got a roof over his head for the rest of his life guaranteed, and I just think if you can do that then why wouldn’t you? It was a no-brainer for me.”

Shaun and Cat were together for 7 years before they split earlier this year.

I’m glad these two have a good relationship for the sake of their child.
