Puppy Abandoned In Forest With All His Belongings Waits For Someone To Notice Him

Some dogs and cats don’t receive the love they deserve. One such animal was a puppy named Hank. He once had a family that apparently took care of him until the day they decided to abandon him in the forest with a bunch of dog supplies. Hank was left alone with a broken leg as well as a bag of food he could not open and some used toys, and his doggie bed.

Thankfully, a Good Samaritan noticed Hank in the woods. The dog was sitting perfectly still on his dog bed like a good boy. The person called the local animal shelter, which was able to send out a volunteer to rescue Hank from being abandoned in the forest.

By the time he was rescued, authorities believed Hank had been abandoned for about two weeks.

“Only a puppy at eight months old yet has been through so much. His tail started wagging once he knew he was being taken to the veterinary hospital. We cannot imagine why anyone would dump him with a broken leg. Left him with his bed, toys, and food in the woods. Whoever you are, please know that Hank is now safe and will never ever be hurt again,” Humans and Animals United wrote on their Facebook page.

Hank’s initial rescuers approached him with caution. They feared that he might be aggressive since he was forced into survival mode. They could not have been more wrong about the pup. He was a sweetie from the first moment help arrived to save his life.

“He was nothing but love from the moment they got him,” Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, told The Dodo. “Everybody says that he’s the sweetest dog.”

When Hank was rescued, he was taken to the vet. The doctor diagnosed the dog with a broken leg, which explained why he was not leaving his dog’s bed. His leg had been broken for at least two weeks, and it made it too painful for him to move around. He required expensive surgery, which almost led him to get euthanized.

Thankfully, the good people at Humans and Animals United were able to save Hank from euthanasia and get him prepped for the surgery he needed to recover from the broken leg. But first, he needed to gain weight. He was very skinny when he was found and had been without food for a long time.

Hank’s story became a viral sensation after it was posted to social media. This helped the animal charity raise donations to get Hank the treatment he needed to recover. These generous donors helped Hank receive treatment after he had been treated so cruelly by his previous owners.

His surgery was a success. Now Hank is recovering from it. He is still low in weight. He’s living in foster care right now, and his foster parents are trying to help him gain weight by feeding him multiple times during the day.
